Case Study - Criminal Damage

IntaForensics were approached by a local police force in relation to criminal damage to a vehicle. It was believed that the suspect had recorded the incident on his Mobile Phone.

The Police Force requested that IntaForensics examine the suspects Mobile Telephone to ascertain whether their suspicions were correct.

The handset submitted to IntaForensics was found to have a memory card connected. An IntaForensics analyst performed a full Mobile Phone Forensic Analysis on the exhibited Mobile Phone and SIM Card and a full Computer Forensic Analysis on the identified memory card.

No videos or images were found on the Mobile Phone or accessible on the memory card; however following an analysis of the unallocated clusters (an area of the memory card which contains deleted data) five videos were recovered. Two of  the deleted  videos were found to contained footage of the suspect performing the act.

The exhibited technical report and recovered video footage by IntaForensics, enabled the Police Force to charge the suspect and was central to the successful prosecution.
