I have been given the opportunity to apply what I have learnt from Marketing Modules at University into my day-to-day roles. My typical duties include events management, marketing content creation, the procurement of marketing materials, mass email marketing and social media marketing. The email and social media marketing campaigns that I run involve: creating, sending, managing and tracking the performance of these campaigns.

The benefit from working for a SME is the level of responsibility. In March we hosted a Cyber Security event in Birmingham for 40 registered attendees. The whole event process was assigned to me; from finding and booking the venue, to marketing the event, and ensuring we had appropriate marketing materials at the event. This was a genuine challenge to arrange this event within a tight time-frame and to work with a set budget, however, I really enjoyed the responsibility and it significantly improved my organisational, management and communication skills. The opportunity to see projects all the way from inception to completion really does give me a sense of achievement.

I would recommend this Placement as there is a close social environment not only between the commercial team but between all the departments and offices. It is also an excellent opportunity to work for a SME where you can become a genuine asset to the team. I can confidently list various examples of projects and challenges that I have faced this year which not only shows employers I have genuine and relevant experience in working within an organisation, but, will also support me in completing the final year of my degree.”
