A New Era for the Cyber Essentials Scheme

Whilst the world is uniting to fight against the unprecedented challenge of the Coronavirus pandemic, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the IASME Consortium have continued to work hard to prepare for today when IASME officially become the sole NCSC Cyber Essentials Partner.

Congratulations to Dr Emma Philpott MBE and all of the IASME team for this fantastic achievement!  IntaForensics are delighted and proud to continue their long-standing relationship with IASME as one of their Certification Bodies for the delivery of Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus and the IASME Governance Standard.

The Cyber Essentials scheme was introduced in June 2014 following Government concern that organisations were generally not doing enough to protect themselves against low level, low sophistication internet-based cyber-attacks.  IntaForensics became an IASME Certification Body in 2016 and, since then, have certified in excess of 650 organisations of all shapes and sizes.

This is a milestone in the history of the Cyber Essentials Scheme and a very well-deserved accolade for Emma and the IASME team who work tirelessly to promote the Cyber Essentials Scheme and the IASME Governance Standard as significant steps organisations of any size can take to improve their cyber-security posture.  IntaForensics enjoy a very close working relationship with IASME and look forward to continuing our delivery of Cyber Essentials certification – Damian Walton Chief Security Officer

The Cyber Essentials scheme is a simple yet effective, Government backed framework that will help protect your organisation against a range of the most common internet-based cyber-attacks.  The checks take the form of five technical controls which are easy to implement and designed to guard against these threats.

The controls are based around research which demonstrated that the majority of breaches happen because organisations have a weakness in one or more of 5 key areas.  Those 5 areas form the basis of the Cyber Essentials scheme controls.

From the small-scale start-up to established and growing organisations, the Cyber Essentials scheme will help you reduce the impact of such threats as:

  • phishing attacks
  • malware
  • ransomware
  • password guessing
  • network attacks
