It’s no secret by now that Lima, our tried and trusted casework management software, enables a wide variety of organisations to operate efficiently and effectively through its comprehensive end-to-end case management system. We caught up with a leading UK police force to gain insight into life with Lima.

 

Can you tell us a little about how you find life working with Lima?

Lima’s customisation is its best feature, as requirements continually change regarding what we want to record and track. It is great to see that Lima v3 will be implementing more customisation options. As the administrator of Lima, I find implementing changes within the admin module very easy to achieve and the controls available have certainly improved over the years.

 

What challenges drove the need to use our services?

Our original setup of multiple case management systems, and other surrounding documents like asset management records, was causing many issues in terms of lost efficiency and thus led to bad laboratory management. Back in 2016 we had three case management systems in effect. First was the computer case management system, second was the mobile phone case management system and third being a notes-based system where contemporaneous notes were recorded. This led to very convoluted records management resulting in loss of efficiency and, in some cases, misplacing of exhibits.

 

How did the IntaForensics team help with implementation?

With Lima being completely tailored for our Digital Forensic Unit, the initial implementation was time-consuming, but ultimately straight forward. One of your team members attended our DFU to assist in configuration and training of staff. We got the initial stages of the configuration working within a week and your staff continued to stay in contact with us as the system matured.

 

How has Lima helped since implementation? 

As an integrated case management system, Lima has merged a complicated set of applications into a single product, thus resulting in maximum efficiency and better record management.

 

Would you recommend Lima to others?

Definitely, and I have always given a good representation of Lima when other forces and organisations have asked about it in the past. Lima has assisted our DFU to satisfy the majority of case management requirements and has been the best-case management solution available to UK law enforcement.
