It’s about time it is known as a must have for organisations in the private sector for internal investigations!

“An extremely versatile product well worth the price”

How?

Lima can be used as a managerial and organisational tool for internal investigations. Lima Laboratory and Lima Enterprise provide assistance in submissions, investigation management and management & reporting upon conclusion of the investigation.

Features!

‘So what makes Lima effective for internal investigations?’

Lima has an extensive list of features, here are some that we feel benefit organisations internal investigations in particular:

– Templates and capturing details; technical disciplines such as e-Disclosure and Digital Forensics require capturing complex details which Lima provides the appropriate templates for.

– Single Solution; Lima saves time for organisations investigation processes as it enables the transition and promotion of cases within departments.

– Customisation; Lima will always set out to meet the requirements of your organisation.

– Technical groups; different teams and disciplines are prevented from accessing or having knowledge of the work in other teams.

– Staff Templates; the investigators utilizing Lima can be presented with a tailored workspace configured to the needs of their roles.

– linked investigations; allows information captured to be shared without any additional work on behalf of either team. This information is all contained within the Lima Case Record and becomes available on case reassignment to the next team member as required.

– Improvements; all our customers have an active involvement in suggesting workflow improvements and developments to the system to meet their unique requirements.

– Implementation; these suggestions are noted and we have implemented several new features based on the requirements of organisations.

“The Lima team are committed to customer input and feature requests from all of our customers to ensure we offer a product that is capable of managing digital forensics requirements of today, and building for those of the future” – Andrew Frowen, Managing Director – IntaForensics Ltd.

Case Study!

Broadcom Limited is a diversified global semiconductor leader. Broadcom’s extensive product portfolio serves multiple applications within four primary end markets: wired infrastructure, wireless communications, enterprise storage and industrial & others.

The Requirements

Broadcom conducted a tender exercise to replace their previous bespoke case management system. The issue that Broadcom had with that is that the more technical disciplines – e-Disclosure and Digital Forensics primarily – had a need to capture more detail within their case management system than the generic templates allowed by their previous system and this lead to additional case preparation time being spent on each case submitted to their Legal team.

The Issues

Broadcom needed a system which would enable the transition and promotion of cases from the SOC (Security Operations Centre) through to Digital Forensics, e-Disclosure or Internal Audit. The investigative effort and information gathered by each discipline might impact upon case investigations in the other departments. Their teams spent disproportionate time conducting file preparations and conducting hand-overs to the next team. They needed a single solution to manage their investigation processes.

The Solution

IntaForensics proposed a system based on our Lima solution. The “customisation” required of the Lima system to meet Broadcom’s requirements was minimal and the solution they required could be configured directly within the Lima system “out of the box” – a COTS product.

A simplified case request process was put in place, and necessary authorisations gained. This was able to be configured within the Lima portal – this was particularly useful for Broadcom with plants and requestors globally across different time zones and jurisdictions.

Broadcom’s team were involved in discussing and shaping the future development of the system, as are all of our users. They were active in suggesting work-flow improvements and developments of the system to meet their unique requirements. IntaForensics worked closely with the team to implement several new features in the system based on Broadcom’s requirements over time.

Keeping Current

Lima software has helped organisations manage their forensic and eDiscovery practices efficiently, effectively and comprehensively since 2009. The software has kept up to date, with the latest edition being version 2.2 being released in September 2016. We are always looking to improve upon Lima and its features. Which leads to our Lima insight project which has also just been released. Lima Insight enables access to a management reporting portal for case tracking, evidence tracking, lab performance, staff and asset utilization date and more through a simple, intuitive interface. Ultimately making the software more personalised and customised. Available for existing customers of Lima lab and Lima enterprise for no extra cost

Safeguarding

Due to the nature of the Lima software concerning digital forensic cases, this means that the software tracks information in a robust, auditable way that is compliant with International Standards. The Lima system is compatible for organisations to meet the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 17025 and ASCLD/LAB as well as compliance with guidelines from the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC); formerly known as the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), and the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST).  Meaning businesses who use Lima to track, organise and manage their casework can confidently handle exhibits safe in the knowledge that legal requirements are being satisfied and cases are fit and appropriate for submission to court where necessary
