Reflections on RelativityFest London 2025

Exploring the Future of Legal Technology, Gen AI and Cyber Resilience

In an era where legal teams are under growing pressure to review more data in less time, Generative AI (Gen AI) is rapidly becoming a vital tool for modern e-Discovery. From reducing manual workload to surfacing insights faster, the application of Gen AI is changing how investigations and document reviews are carried out.

That’s why our team of e-Discovery specialists attended RelativityFest London 2025—to see first-hand how Relativity and the wider legal tech community are responding to these shifts. The event brought together legal professionals, data experts, and technologists to explore new features, best practices and emerging innovations, with Gen AI taking centre stage across almost every session.

The Unmistakable Presence of Gen AI

A defining theme of this year’s event was the rise of Gen AI—not as a future ambition, but as a core part of how e-Discovery is done today. The message was clear: those already leveraging Gen AI are gaining a measurable edge in speed, cost-efficiency, and accuracy.

As Charlie Millidge, Senior Business Development Manager at IntaForensics, observed:

“Gen AI is here, and the organisations that are embracing it now are already pulling ahead. They have the capacity to do significantly more, faster, and with greater precision—ultimately enabling them to deliver better outcomes and drive higher profitability.”

Relativity has taken significant steps to embed Gen AI into the user experience. Tools like Relativity aiR for Review are already in use, helping legal teams to cut through large volumes of documents and pinpoint what matters most. Gen AI-driven privilege identification, automated summarisation, and natural language search are all contributing to smarter, faster review workflows.

Holly Jackson, Cyber Manager at IntaForensics, reflected on this shift:

“Gen AI is everywhere—and it’s here to stay. The integration of Gen AI into Relativity’s products isn’t just a future promise; it’s happening now. From privilege review to breach response, we’re seeing real, impactful applications that help teams move faster and smarter.”

While some discussions still touched on data security and risk, it was Gen AI’s growing role in streamlining review and delivering insight that really stole the spotlight.

Practical Insights from Sessions at RelativityFest

One of the most informative sessions we attended showcased how Relativity Data Breach Response leverages the Relativity platform to locate and classify sensitive personal data. Although often linked to cyber incidents, this workflow is increasingly relevant in e-Discovery settings—especially when assessing data exposure in internal investigations or compliance reviews.

Charlie Millidge noted:

“A good session from Relativity where we learnt more about how Relativity Data Breach Response helps organisations effectively identify impacted individuals and their sensitive information quickly. The system allows the user to effectively respond to cyber issues.”

What stood out was how Gen AI is being applied to previously manual, time-consuming tasks—allowing review teams to act on key information without having to sift through every record line by line.

Looking Ahead: Relativity aiR and the Evolution of Legal Review

Relativity’s long-term vision clearly centres on its aiR platform. As the technology behind RelativityOne continues to mature, Gen AI will power more aspects of the review process—from early case assessment to production.

Charlie Millidge summed it up well:

“Relativity aiR is the future as it incorporates the latest Gen AI technology allowing users to focus on other parts of their jobs. The Gen AI tool automates so much of the process and review stage.”

This aligns with how we’re working with our clients. We’re seeing clear gains in both productivity and consistency when Gen AI is used thoughtfully, particularly during first-pass review and privilege identification. Rather than replacing reviewers, these tools are enhancing their ability to make better, faster decisions.

Collaboration and Community

RelativityFest also served as a valuable forum for connecting with other legal professionals, technologists and industry partners. We found the discussions around practical Gen AI adoption, including how to train teams, validate outputs, and retain defensibility were especially useful.

It was also encouraging to see Relativity’s commitment to user feedback and continuous improvement. Many of the features showcased were developed in direct response to challenges shared by the user community, including the need for transparent Gen AI, intuitive workflows and flexible review models.

Final Thoughts

RelativityFest London 2025 made it clear: Gen AI is no longer experimental, it’s essential. For e-Discovery professionals, the tools now available are making it easier to tackle increasingly complex and data-heavy matters with clarity and confidence.

As Relativity continues to build on its aiR platform, we’re excited about the future of legal review and the role we can play in helping our clients adopt and optimise these innovations.
